Aloha - Welcome to our Maui Travel Guide
Discover Maui and it’s breathtaking scenery, hidden coves, beautiful beaches, sunsets and attractions. Maui is the perfect holiday for total relaxation, romance and fun. Forget about the office, take off your watch and do what everyone else does.....speak softly and wear a loud shirt.
Our last trip to Maui was the fastest 14 days I’ve every experienced. No matter what attraction, event or thing we were doing that day we always seemed to find time to walk or relax one of Maui’s pristine beaches or coves.
Car rental is important if you plan on taking in the magnificent scenery, beaches, attractions or cool towns. Forget about passing just drive slow you’ll get to where your going soon enough. Once you pickup your car at the airport its easy to find your away around. Basically you’ll take 3 right turns leaving the rental lot and end up on the 311 Hwy drive for about 15 - 20 minutes and it intersects with the 310. Stay on the 310 if your heading to Kihei ( 5 minutes) or Wailea (10 minutes). If your heading north to Lahaina, Napili or Kapalua take a right onto the 310 which intersects with highway 30 and your 15 minutes from Lahaina. Check out the Maui map to give you a better idea.
Drop into one of the stores and pick up some Hawaiian music for the car which sets the mood for the start of each day. My favorite CD on this trip was “Alone in IZ world” with his soft voice and ukulele they made magic mahalo IZ and god bless.
The towns are easy to find and each with its own uniqueness and charm. Kahului is where the airport is located and major stores like: Walmart, K-Mart, etc... Kihei and South Kihei have are one the the most popular areas for: beach front accommodations, shopping, restaurants and fantastic beaches. Wailea further south has upscale hotels, resorts and a fabulous shopping mall. To the north west you’ll find Maalaea Harbor which has the best sea food restaurants on the island and home to many boat charters. North of Ma’alaea Harbor is the famous whaling town Lahaina with tons of cool shops, restaurants and the Lahaina harbor for your ocean excursions. Further north again you’ll find Ka’anapali, Kapalua and Napili.
Another unique town to visit is Pa’ia, they call it old country. As soon as you arrive in Pa’ai you’ll find a free parking lot to the right. Its more of a hippie town where you can find lots of unique souvenirs shops, clothing, specialty shops and gift stores.
A few miles from Pa’ai is Mama’s Fish House one most magnificent fine dining restaurants Maui has to offer. Before you pull in go 1 minutes past Mama’s Fish House and you’ll find a Ho’okipa Beach Park Maui’s popular windsurfing and surfing beach. Don’t forget the camera for this one as they have a lookout you can pull into. Oh yes, this is also the start of the famous “Road to Hana”, where you’ll find hidden pools, waterfalls, tropical rain forests and hiking trails.
The best secret of Maui is something you’ll have to discover on your own.
I hope this guide helps you plan a perfect Maui Vacation. Aloha.
