Kaanapali is a popular area for great beaches and family fun. To reach Kaanapali turn off Hwy 30 to the Kaanapalii Parkway at the intersection with Kaanapali Golf Course. Kannapali is the first master-planned resort in the United States. The first hotel was completed in 1963.
Kannapali is only 4 miles from the historic whaling village of Lahaina. Kaanapali is located 27 miles or 35 minutes from Kahului Airport depending on traffic. If your heading from south Kihei it’s around 24 miles and Wailea 32 miles away. Most of the condos and resorts in Kaanapali are along the coast line with beach access.
There are amazing beaches in Kaanapali perfect for swimming, snorkeling or surfing. The snorkeling along rocky point is exceptional with lots of different species of tropical fish. A few minutes north of Kaanapali is Kahekili Beach Park a popular beach with showers, restrooms, picnic tables and BBQ’s. Other beaches south of Kaanapali are Hanakao’s Beach Park (canoe beach) it also has showers and restrooms. Just south a few minutes is Wahikuli Wayside Park with restrooms, picnic tables and BBQ’s. You’ll find great swimming and boarding at all the popular beaches in the area. The snorkeling is excellent and the best part is its free!
